Bartlesville, OK – Blue Whale Materials (BWM) was named to TIME Magazine and Statista’s inaugural list of America’s Top GreenTech Companies of 2024. This list ranks the 250 top performing, US-based companies that that are focused on utilizing their green technology to have a positive environmental impact.
Over 4,600 companies across ten categories were considered and assessed against three metrics: positive environmental impact, innovation drive, and financial strength. BWM was ranked in the Circular Economy category for its lithium-ion battery recycling operation, with a score of 71.4/100.
BWM is an innovative leader in sustainable battery recycling, dedicated to improving the Li-ion battery value chain. With its proprietary technology, the company processes spent Li-ion batteries to produce premium, highly-concentrated Blacksand™ containing cobalt, nickel, and lithium for sale to the domestic battery supply chain.

The company's processing facility, located in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, will begin commissioning by Q4 2024 and is set to commence operations in Q1 2025, with a processing capacity of 14,000MT. In Greenfield, Indiana, BWM’s BW Energy and Innovation battery testing and evaluation lab offers comprehensive end-of-life battery testing and grading services and recently announced a new capability-expanding collaboration.
